DANNY and KIMBERLI NEED YOUR HELP NOW!
They will be evicted from their apartment in the next 72 hours (on Jan. 24). The medical expenses and cost of staying healthy have decimated them financially. Every little bit helps.
Danny is 60 years old and suffers from multiple chronic illnesses, including Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), 40-plus years of insulin dependent Diabetes (IDDM) and multiple endocrine disorders. He will ultimately require a kidney transplant. The side-effects of these diseases add a further level of complexity to his healthcare issues. This fundraiser will help him meet his medical costs and living expenses which far exceed his ability to pay, even with his Disability, Medicare and Medicaid assistance.
Danny subsists on Social Security Disability income, which is only 40% of what he previously earned as a professional in the workforce. He lost his job as a Medical Management professional during the economic downturn beginning 2008 – 2009 and subsequently lost his health insurance too. The combination of the recession, proposed “ObamaCare” (ACA) laws and his age made finding new positions fruitless. He has long ago consumed all of the unemployment benefits available to him. His meager IRA investments are also now gone in providing for living and medical costs. He received medical care assistance from St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor and Muskegon. Assistance programs from pharmaceutical companies and assistance with living expenses from local and state agencies, but most of that help is now gone due a disappointing twist of fate of the “system” rules.
